We are back for another round of EFL fixtures, in this article we will preview 3 key games coming up this weekend.

Barnsley v Bournemouth

On Friday evening, Barnsley host Bournemouth at Oakwell, in a 17:30 kick off.

Barnsley go into the tie in prudent form, winning 3 out of their last 5 league games. The Tykes previous game was a late 2-1 win against Birmingham City, Callum Styles scored a 84th minute winner from a left footed shot from outside the box into the bottom left corner.

Bournemouth are in a similar position to Barnsley, also winning 3 out of their last 5 league games.

The last meeting between the two, was in March 2014. The Cherries won 1-0. The game was a stalemate all the way until the end, Steve Cook scored a header in the 90th minute to clinch the win for the away side.

Reading v Nottingham Forest

On Saturday lunchtime, Reading take on Nottingham Forest at the Madejski Stadium.

Reading are in destitute form, winning one in their last seven games. The Royals were unable to beat 10 men Sheffield Wednesday during the week, as they drew 1-1. 

Nottingham Forest are also in poor form, with two wins in their last seven.

The last time these two sides met was in January. The game ended 1-1. Nottingham Forest took the lead in the 80th minute, with a right footed shot from Lewis Grabban, the lead didn’t last long though, as Sam Baldock equalized for Reading just 3 minutes later. The game could have gone either way in the end but it ended one a piece.

Watford v Cardiff

On Saturday at 15:00, Watford take on Cardiff at Vicarage Road.

Watford are in preposterous form at the moment, losing just once in their last 11. Last time out the Hornets were held by Forest to a 0-0.

Cardiff are in mediocre form, with 2 wins in their last 5. The Bluebirds enjoyed a 3-0 win over Huddersfield, during the week.

The last meeting between Watford and Cardiff was in February 2019. It was a game to forget for Cardiff, as they were humiliated 5-1. Gerrard Deulofeu made it scored a hattrick for Watford on the day and Troy Deeney claimed a Brace. Sol Bamba scored a consolation goal in the 82nd minute, with a header from a well delivered corner.
