Fast Withdrawal Betting Sites [2021]

After the high of winning should come the high of getting your winnings. Before online gambling — and still the case in high street bookmakers — the two were often combined, a short visit to the cashier with your betting slip which, after a quick check, would be exchanged for your winnings. When betting online though, the delay in getting your winnings can be significant.

Recommend Fast Withdrawal Sites [sorted by speed]:

Why, in an age when the internet is making most things quicker, does getting money from a bookie take longer? And which bookie is the best for paying out promptly?

Why do payments take time?

The emergence of online gambling has only made things appear simpler. While betting sites are designed to make it easy, perhaps even to incentivise you, to set up an account and start betting there are, behind all that, a set of regulations and processes that are far more complex than the old-fashioned bookmaker with their betting slips.

A lot of this is to benefit you. With traditional high street bookmakers you could have some confidence knowing you were betting with a recognised name. Their very presence on the high street offered some reassurance that there were significant resources behind the business. Online it’s much easier to set up a betting site, and that has meant punters getting ripped off, whether by out-and-out fraudsters or ambitious entrepreneurs with a bad business model.

It also protects society more generally. Many of the regulations are to ensure that betting sites are only used by those who can gamble legally and that the vulnerable are protected. They also ensure that the money going through gambling sites is legitimate and not, for example, laundered.

And, in some cases, it’s in the bookies interest to keep hold of your money. This isn’t to say that they won’t pay you, but they may build in a slight delay knowing that it’s much easier, and therefore much more likely, that you will make a bet using money already sitting in your account: once you have withdrawn it you are less likely to go through the hassle of paying back in. By adding a delay, even if slight, the bookie knows they are prolonging that period of temptation during which they are likely to get your winnings back as a stake on another bet.

Know your customer

The first possible cause for delay are the ‘know your customer’ guidelines. In the UK these are part of the Money Laundering Regulations 2017 but there are similar rules across the world. These mean that before anything can be paid the bookmaker has to be confident they know who you are and that you are a legitimate customer. This part of the process will usually be completed when you set up an account but if not, they will need completing before any pay-out can be made.

Initial processing

Once you’ve won and the money is sitting in your account you need to request payment. Bookmakers will often then take some time ‘processing’ your payment. This is where a delay might be built in, hoping that you will not complete the withdrawal and bet again. However, it also includes some necessary checks. These will include some of the ‘know your customer’ checks, primarily to make sure the payment is going to you and there haven’t been any suspicious changes to your account. However, it will also include other checks, like making sure you have been abiding by the bookie’s terms and conditions.

Payment processing

Bookmakers tend to use third-party payment processors and these will each have their own timeframes for payment. While they are generally quick, after all their business is based around the quick and efficient transfer of money, there is still the possibility for delay, especially if the payment type is not straightforward.

Payment transfer

This final part of the process is when the money finally gets to your account. Although your personal internet banking may offer near-instantaneous transfers, this is frequently not the case with business payments. It can also be the longest part of any payment depending on the method you have chosen.

Payment methods

The way you are paid is likely to be the biggest factor in the payment time, although this will vary between bookmakers. It’s worth noting that some bookmakers may not offer a choice of method, but instead will pay your winnings using the same method you paid the stake. Whether you choose by how you bet, or choose when you request your winnings, the speed with which you are paid is broadly related to the method.

eWallet

There are a number of eWallet services available. PayPal is the biggest and best known, but there are a number of similar services which are widely used by bookmakers, Neteller is perhaps the biggest and has a long association with the gambling industry.

eWallets are usually the fastest way to get your winnings. However, some services may charge additional fees and there might be some limits on how you can access or spend your money from the eWallet.

Debit card

Payment to your debit card is, after an eWallet, the quickest way to get your cash. It is, effectively, a transfer straight into your current account so also offers huge flexibility since you have access to the cash in your account and, for most people, no fees.

The ease of this method also makes it incredibly popular with punters, since there’s no intermediary account to set up and maintain. The transactions with the bookie are effectively the same as they would be with any other retailer.

Bank transfer

While this has some of the advantages of payment by debit card —the cash goes straight into your account so it is immediately available to you — it is also slower. In part this is because of the checks required, the bookmaker needs to be sure it is paying the money to you. The processing time is also slower, many bank transfers are advertised as taking three to five working days although they are frequently quicker.

Cheque

In some ways a relic of a bygone age, despite national attempts to phase out their use, the cheque remains a valid method and payment and some bookmakers still offer it as a payment option. Unsurprisingly it is unpopular since it has delay and inconvenience built in. The cheque has to be printed and then posted, once received it has to be deposited into the payee’s bank (although some banks now accept photos through their banking apps) and can’t be used until the cheque has cleared which can be up to four working days later. Many bookies have, or are, withdrawing it as a payment option and it’s hard to imagine why this would be anyone’s preferred method.

Who are the fastest paying bookies

Unsurprisingly there is huge variation between bookmakers on their payment times. Each bookie operates differently, and will have different partnerships and arrangements in place. It’s also worth noting that the payment times advertised are the longest expected and payments are often made sooner.

eWallet payments

Betfair romp home when it comes to eWallet payments. Not only do they offer a range of eWallets to use, including PayPal, Neteller and Skrill, but they advertise payment within four hours.

In practice most bookies suggest eWallet payment within a day, so you might be able to expect similarly prompt payment elsewhere.

Debit card payments

Both William Hill and Coral share the honours here. Withdrawing winnings with either of them to your debit card should be with you in one to three working days. Like any payment method, the advertised times are often worst case, but most other bookmakers advertise a range of two to five working days so William Hill and Coral are likely to be the quicker payers overall.

Both bookmakers also offer faster payment with Visa Direct. Not all banks offer this service, but if yours does then you can expect payment within four hours.

Bank transfer

Betfair add this to their quickest eWallet title. Offering payment in two to three working days for a standard bank transfer they beat other bookies who often suggest as many as eight working days for payment. If you are really in a rush for your cash Betfair will also offer next day payment via bank transfer, but will charge a fee for this.

What’s the best option

It is impossible to make an overall recommendation because there is so much variation between both bookies and punters. What is quick with one is not as quick with another, so it’s worth checking the bookie’s website and thinking about your preferred payment method if a quick payment is important to you.

What makes the most significant difference is the payment type. eWallets are almost always the quickest way to get paid, with most bookies offering payment within a day. They do carry the inconvenience of having to maintain another account and, in some cases, may attract additional fees. However, since most people have multiple online accounts, the inconvenience may be minimal. If quick payment is important to you, using an eWallet is the way to go.
