Match Preview: Liverpool Vs Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace travel to Anfield on the back of an impressive win against Bournemouth. Liverpool have been by far the best team in the league this season and need only five points to guarantee the title but their last outing was disappointing and there was a serious lack of quality in front of goal, from the entirety of their squad. A 0-0 draw in the Merseyside derby was unusual and fans will be hoping they bounce back now. The title should be theirs, but it wouldn’t be the first time that Liverpool bottle a considerable lead in the Premier League, just as they did against Man City a few years back, so a confident win today would really ease their worries.  Crystal Palace are no pushovers however, having won four of their last four games with four clean sheets. Crystal Palace tend to be quite unpredictable, sometimes beating opponents clearly better than them like the famous 3-2 win against Man City. Some of their players have the capacity to turn games on their head, and Wilfried Zaha has been Place’s best player for a number of seasons.

Recently, it has been Jordan Ayew who has performed the best, scoring important goals at essential times. When he scored, Crystal Palace tend to win and Liverpool might have difficulty in keeping him quiet.

Liverpool obviously have the tools to hurt Crystal Palace at the other end though, and their front three of Mohammed Salah, Bobby Firmino and Sadio Mane is one of the very best in the world. The speed at which they play is breathtaking, and when they play well they can beat any team put in front of them.

So far, games have lacked goals, with far more teams failing to score than usual. This fixture does tend to deliver, and surprisingly Crystal Palace are the only team in the world that have beaten Jürgen Klopps team more than once at Anfield, doing it three times.

This game could go either way and both teams will be desperate to get a good result.
