One of the top UK sports betting websites, bet365 (ranked at No.4 in our Best Betting Offers for December 2022), has announced that their Software Testing Academy is expanding to Manchester. bet365, which runs the largest sports betting website in the world, has decided to expand in order to find and recruit the best technical talent there is. The Software Testing Academy is ran by bet365’s technical daughter company Hillside (Technology) Limited, which was founded 10 years ago to support the company’s behind-the-scene software development and innovation drive, which is crucial to their success as a sports betting favourite in the UK.

Hillside Technology has stated that they will take a different, more open-minded approach to recruitment. They will seek to hire up to 10 software testers, and the main criteria will not be technological experience. In order to reach the right people for the job, the company will invite applicants from all backgrounds and skillsets with the hope that those with the right core skills will not be put off by the usual experience requirements that come with this type of jobs.

Recognising the importance of constant innovation and thinking out of the box when it comes to leading the sports betting market, bet365 often come up with untraditional ways of tackling traditional issues. Software testing recruitment being crucial to the company’s success, they have decided to focus on 5 core skills which they believe will help them add valuable software testers to their team – analytical skills, prioritisation, communication, knowledge retention, and attention to detail.

Those interested in the role will have to attend assessments on 21st / 22nd February 2023, and, if successful, will potentially join Hillside Technology in March or April. They will start their career with a comprehensive training programme supplemented by mentoring by experienced software testers. The training will comprise of both theoretical knowledge acquisition and on-the-job live practice, and will have an element of learning about the industry and the intricacies of sports betting. Some training topics will include introduction to software testing, qTest, Jira, test design, and functional and regression testing.

After the initial training period, the new testers will try their hand at various techniques and will work on the company’s multiple products, systems, and projects. They will also train towards an industry qualification such as ISTQB Certified Tester.

All things considered, this announcements marks an exciting opportunity for those with the right skills and attitude. Hillside Technology is keen to spread the word that they would love to hear from anyone who feels they are up for a challenge, regardless of whether they had thought about, or prepared for, a career in software testing before.

Why does bet365 need software testers and a dedicated Software Testing Academy?

Back in 2018, the then head of Hillside Technology Alan Reed provided some insight into the challenges faced by bet365 and the unique approach taken by them to ensure they remain the first choice for millions of UK sports betting fans:

“Delivering an always on platform that supports real-time applications for 100,000s of concurrent users at peak, has meant consistently breaking new ground in both the way we work and the technologies we use.”

With the expansion of new technologies and the increased popularity of omnichannel marketing, bet365 had to ensure that their approach to software development continued to seamlessly support the complex sophisticated web of interrelated systems ensuring flawless user experience for all customers regardless of the systems, platforms, or devices used by them. bet365 and Hillside Technology found that more specialists were needed at every step of the Software Development Cycle, and they wanted the best talent there is. The Software Testing Academy will ensure that the right people get the best training to do a great job that would leave the customers happy.

What else is bet365 getting right?

bet366 go out of their way to ensure the satisfaction of new and existing customers alike. Their current offer of “bet £10 get £50” (T&Cs Apply) is hard to beat, and few other companies can surpass the variety of their betting markets. Once a new user logs in for the first time, the effort put into technological innovation becomes immediately obvious with seamless betting experience and great features such as partial and full cash outs, live streaming, and an advanced bet builder. If you like doing your sports betting on your mobile, bet365’s mobile app will not disappoint. To find out more about the great offers and features of bet365, see our bet365 review.
