Match Previews: Pick of the bunch!

Arsenal vs Norwich City

Saturday, 11th September

A tough start to the league for both teams has seen both joint bottom on 0 points from 3 games. Things need to improve quickly.

No goals scored in their first three Premier League games isn’t something you want to be known for, but that is where this Arsenal team is at right now. They certainly need a spark to ignite their season and this could be the perfect game for it. Both sides are struggling to find anything positive and this one isn’t a given that Arsenal will pick up all 3 points. It’s hard to see this Arsenal team challenge for Champions League or even Europa League places, but the squad has a strong lack of leadership across the pitch. Arsenal spent the most money during the transfer window, and they’ve yet to show any sign that they’re moving forward. It’s only a few games into the league, but Arsenal sitting bottom with no goals and no wins isn’t something that should be happening. A must-win here.

Norwich has one thing over Arsenal this season, and that’s the fact that they’ve been able to find the back of the net. They’re still looking for their first points, and I’m sure they’ll fancy this one as a game that they could potentially cause an upset if it would even be that at this point. It’s not expected that Arsenal easily picks up 3 points, and Norwich can certainly match them with a fight. There is talent at Norwich and players like Todd Cantwell and Billy Gilmour can certainly shine against Arsenal and they’ll be hoping that’s the case. Arsenal will be in for another long 90 minutes, and if Norwich is mistake-free at the back, there’s a good chance that can come away from the Emirates with something.

Brentford vs Brighton & Hove Albion

Saturday, 11th September

Both sides have started well, but there’s still a lot more to come. It’s two teams that want to play football, and the talent on show should make this one interesting.

Newcomers Brentford remain unbeaten from their first 3 games, winning 1 and drawing the other 2. They’re showing that they aren’t here to just survive, but actually compete, and they’re doing exactly that. Beating Arsenal got this side off to a flyer in the Premier League, and the confidence will be in this side to go on and pick up more points. They’re a good, talented team with a great coach and they’ll look to get the ball down and play football here against another outfit that will look to do the same. Should be a great game.

Brighton has started well, winning 2 of their 3 games. They lost at home to Everton most recently, but in terms of how they performed, they should have taken something from the match. The way Graham Potter has Brighton playing deserves a lot of credit, but they have to be more clinical in the final third if they are to improve this season. This one should be an open, exciting game of football with both sides looking to play attacking. It could go either way.
