Portugal v France

Portugal take on France at 19:45 on Saturday, the game will take place at the Estadio da luz, the stadium of Benfica FC.

Portugal sit first in the nations league A table group 3, with 9 points in 4 games. The 2016 European championship winners have been a free flowing scoring side as of late, their last two games ended 3-0 and 7-0, with Portugal triumphing on both occasions.

France are in a similar position to Portugal, with 9 points in 4. France are known for being one of the strongest sides in the world, however Les Bleus didn’t quite showcase that on Wednesday night, as they were second best for 90 minutes, in a 2-0 defeat to Finland.

A notable clash between the two sides will have to be the Euro 2016 final. Underdogs Portugal secured the 1-0 win in extra time, after a stalemate for the 90 minutes of normal time. Substitute, Eder, was the scorer, with a right footed shot from 25 yards out. Eder has since retired from international football and is seeing out his career at Lokomotiv Moscow.

Germany v Ukraine

Germany host Ukraine on Saturday night, at the Red Bull Arena Leipzig in a 19:45 kick off.

Germany are second in the Nations league A group 4, with 6 points, one win and three draws. DFB’s last two outings have seen them draw 3-3 with Switzerland and record a 1-0 win over Czech Republic.

Ukraine are third in the table, winning two and drawing two. Ukraine’s latest two fixtures have resulted in a 1-0 victory over Spain and a 2-0 defeat to Poland.

Germany’s 2-0 win over Ukraine at Euro 2016was a  memorable meeting between the two sides. The Germans opened the scoring in the 19th minute, from a Mustafi header, Germany continued to dominate throughout the game, but confirmed the win with a goal from Bastian Schwinstieger in injury time.

Belgium v England

England travel to Belgium for a 19:45 kick off on Sunday night, at the King Power at Den Dreef.

Belgium are currently first in the Nations league A group 2, with 3 wins and 1 loss. Belgium’s last two matches have both resulted in 2-1 victories, with wins over Iceland and Switzerland.

England are third in the table, with 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss. The three lions last 2 games have seen them lose 1-0 to Denmark and beat Ireland 3-0 in emphatic fashion.

The meeting between the two sides in the World Cup 2018 group stage will still be fresh in the minds of both sets of supporters. Belgium came out on top, winning the game 1-0 with a 51st minute striker from Adan Januzaj. Both nations went on to have very successful tournaments, reaching the semi finals and meeting again in the bronze match.
